Changzhou saw its electricity consumption exceed 58.84 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) in 2021, up 12.6 percent from 2020, hitting a record high.

Compared to the same twelve months of 2020, the electricity consumption of the city's primary, secondary and tertiary industries increased by 15.3%, 12.4%, and 15.9%, respectively. Household power consumption saw a 9.8 percent increase in 2021.

Industrial electricity consumption, the lion's share of the total, reached 44.96 billion kWh. Notably, manufacturing industries in Changzhou recorded 38.83 billion kWh in electricity consumption, a year-on-year growth of 11.2 percent.
