On the morning of January 8^th, construction of the Changzhou base of China Eastern Airlines Jiangsu Ltd. (CEA Jiangsu) was officially commenced. The progress of this project marks a key step towards strategic cooperation between Changzhou and China Eastern Airlines, signifying a historic breakthrough of Changzhou’s civil aviation development. Deputy Mayor Mr. Shi Zhijun attended the groundbreaking ceremony.

This project, located in the west of the Airport Park, covers an area of 28 mu (about 1.87 hectares). The first-phase construction is focused on the 7,000-square meter-large complex building, which is expected to be completed and put into use in this October.

After completion, the base will effectively solve the problem of insufficient crew rest and achieve localized management of CEA Jiangsu in Changzhou.

It is reported that CEA Jiangsu will put more capacity in Changzhou Airport in order to rapidly expand air route network and improve air cargo development of the city.
