Changzhou sees steady growth in consumer spending during New Year’s Day holiday

The three-day New Year’s Day holiday ended on January 3, with data revealing robust consumer spending.

According to data released by the Changzhou Bureau of Commerce, from Saturday to Monday, the city’s 50 major large and medium-sized retail and catering businesses and nine shopping centers achieved sales of 358.037 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.4 percent.

The Jiangsu Lingjiatang Market, a wholesale market for agricultural and sideline products, reached 422.732 million yuan in sales, up 5.1 percent from the same period of 2021.
