On February 15, Chen Jinhu, secretary of the CPC Changzhou Municipal Committee, received the delegation of China Development Bank (CDB) Jiangsu Branch headed by the bank’s Party secretary and president Wang Weidong. Chen expressed gratitude to CDB Jiangsu Branch for its long-term support for Changzhou’s economic and social development. He noted that during the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-2020), the city’s major projects in transportation infrastructure, Yangtze River environmental protection, intelligent manufacturing, and new-type urbanization, have received nearly 60 billion yuan financial backing from the bank. Last year, the growth of Changzhou’s major economic indicators ranked among the top cities in Jiangsu province, said Chen, looking forward to grasping the best timing and trend from planned developments. He highlighted the city’s advantages of being seated in the middle of the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) and included in two economic belts, with a highly developed transportation network, especially the completion of Changtai Yangtze River Bridge and Changtai High-speed Railway. Looking into the future, Chen hoped to see more cooperation with CDB Jiangsu Branch on the city’s infrastructure improvement and industrial development projects, adding that the local government will continuously assume the role of a troubleshooter and a humble servant to provide the best business environment. Rating Changzhou as a culturally significant city and leading manufacturing base in the YRD, Wang Weidong said that he saw great development prospects of the city in the 14th Five-Year Plan (FYP) period (2021-2025). The CDB Jiangsu Branch will continuously provide high-quality financial services for Changzhou based on the city’s development strategies, said Wang, adding that he looked forward to seeing Changzhou step into the "one-trillion-yuan GDP club" in the 14th FYP period.
