Recently, the project of autonomous gearbox for CRH3 EMU accomplished by CRRC Qishuyan Co., Ltd. was awarded the first prize of science and technology development by the China Railway Society (CRS). The CRH3 is a version of the Siemens Velaro high-speed train used in China on the Beijing–Tianjin Intercity Railway line, Wuhan-Guangzhou Passenger Dedicated Line, Zhengzhou-Xi'an Passenger Dedicated Line, the Shanghai–Nanjing Intercity Railway, etc. In particular, the CRH380B, mainly applied to the Harbin-Dalian Intercity Railway, is resistant to coldness and can run under a temperature difference up to 70 � This project for the first time achieved independent development of CRH3 EMU gearbox, breaking through the key technology of reliable performance in high speed and alpine climate. It can be operated safely in extremely low temperature of minus 40 � It is learned that the technology of CRH3 EMU gearbox has long been dominated by foreign enterprises. Through this project, CRRC Qishuyan set up an independent development and design platform, manufacturing platform and test system, which promoted independent development and industrialization of EMU’s key components.
