Changzhou establishes sister-city relationship with Minden, Germany

On August 19th, the unveiling ceremony of the monument commemorating the sister-city relationship between Changzhou and Minden, Germany was held in Hongmei Park. Fei Gaoyun, Mayor of Changzhou, and Michael J?cke, Mayor of Minden, unveiled the monument together.

Minden is a town of about 83,000 inhabitants in the north-east of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The town extends along both sides of the River Weser. It is the capital of the district (Kreis) of Minden-Lübbecke, which is part of the region of Detmold. Minden is the historic political centre of the cultural region of Minden Land. It is widely known as the intersection of the Mittelland Canal and the River Weser. In recent years, various exchange activities have been carried out between the governments, schools and people of Changzhou and Minden, which have achieved positive results in cooperation.

Fei said that Changzhou has initiated a new round of opening up. The manufacturing industry of Germany is advanced. Cooperating with Minden will contribute to the matchmaking of ‘Made in China 2025†and ‘Industry 4.0.†He hoped that the two cities will see the sister-city relationship as a platform to conduct pragmatic cooperation in more ares and achieve win-win results.

J?cke expected the two sides to conduct closer and wider cooperation in fields of economy, education, health care, culture, tourism, etc. to further promote the sister-city relationship.
