On the recently released list of 2020 China’s Top 100 County-level Cities in Balanced Urban-Rural Development, Liyang city of Changzhou, being the only one of Jiangsu province named on the list, is ranked the 5th place.

Organized by China Xiaokang magazine together with a number of authorities and professional institutions, the results of the rankings are based on comprehensive assessments in accordance with big data observations, field research and survey, as well as the views of the public and experts. The purpose of the rankings is to present models of balanced development across rural and urban areas, and to reveal the status and future of each county-level city in its improvement of the balance in development between rural and urban areas.

The balanced development across rural and urban areas includes five aspects, namely the material, spiritual, political, social and ecological civilizations in the course of economic and social development.

In recent years, Liyang has been practicing ecological innovation and urban-rural integration following the concept of lucid waters and lush mountains being invaluable assets. Through the “three-right separation� reform on homestead property rights in terms of collective ownership, contractual rights and tradable land-use rights, Liyang has provided a solution for integrated green development of the Yangtze River Delta.
