On September 17, the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) delegation with over 40 members visited Changzhou. Zhang Zhijun, deputy director of the NPC Foreign Affairs Committee, Bai Yunping, executive deputy chairwoman of the Standing Committee of Changzhou Municipal People's Congress, and Chen Jianguo, deputy director of the Standing Committee of the Municipal People's Congress, accompanied the delegation during the visit. The members of the delegation came from 7 countries including Namibia, Tanzania, Mauritius, and so on. They visited Jiangsu Guoxin Puyang Pumped Storage Power Generation Co., Ltd. and Tianmu Lake Tourism Resort. They highly appreciated the ecological environment of Liyang and hoped to strengthen the friendly exchanges and economic and trade cooperation between IPU and Changzhou. Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), international organization of parliaments of sovereign states established in 1889 in Paris to promote representative democracy and world peace. China officially joined IPU in 1994. As the global organization of national parliaments, IPU work with parliaments to safeguard peace and drive positive democratic change through political dialogue and concrete action.
