On the morning of April 20, the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Liyang Government signed a contract at Jiangsu Zhongguancun Science and Technology Industrial Park to jointly construct the Yangtze Delta Research Center of the Institute of Physics, CAS.

Wang Quan, party secretary of Changzhou, Fang Zhong, director of the Institute of Physics, CAS, and Wen Ya, deputy director of Institute of Physics, attended the signing ceremony.

Wang said that in April last year, the Institute of Physics and Liyang jointly constructed Tianmu Lake Institute of Advanced Energy Storage which has incubated a number of high-quality projects. The newly signed cooperation this year will accelerate the development of Liyang’s power battery industry and Changzhou’s ten major industrial chains, especially the sectors of new energy vehicle and auto parts. He hoped that the Yangtze Delta Research Center can make full use of its comprehensive research advantages and play a role in UNISPAR cooperation, technology transfer, high-tech project industrialization, and so on, in order to build a platform which combines technology transfer, enterprise incubation and talent training. Liyang will also provide the best service and most favorable environment for the center’s development, so as to launch more high-tech projects and transfer more technologies in Liyang.

The Institute of Physics houses state key laboratories for superconductivity, magnetism and surface physics, respectively; and seven CAS key laboratories for optical physics, advanced material and structure analysis, nanophysics and nano devices, extreme conditions physics, soft matter physics, renewable energy, and condensed matter theory and material computation, respectively. IOP also has two institute laboratories in the fields of solid-state quantum information and quantum computation, and microfabrication, respectively. In addition, the institute also houses the Quantum Simulation Science Research Center, the CSNS Engineering Center for Target Stations and Instruments, the International Center for Quantum Structures, the Center for Clean Energy, the Superconducting Technology Applications Center, and the Functional Crystal Research and Applications Center.
