On February 4, Mayor Fei Gaoyun visited Liyang to inspect the progress of SAIC Motor’s RV project and had a meeting with Chen Hong, president of SAIC Motor.

SAIC Motor's RV production and operation base in Liyang was signed in July last year, with a total investment of 1.7 billion yuan. The main activities include the production, R & D and sale of special vehicles like RV, with an expected annual output of 10,000 RVs and annual sales of 3 billion yuan. At present, the project is progressing smoothly.

Fei said that in recent years, Changzhou has been attaching great importance to the development of automobile and parts industry, and has identified the sector as one of the city’s 10 major industrial chains. Through the implementation of ‘vehicle-driven strategy a number of automobile or auto parts companies like Dongfeng, BAIC Motor, Zotye, ThyssenKrupp, Siemens, and so on have settled in Changzhou. Fei expressed the hope that SAIC Motor will launch more projects in Changzhou to promote cooperation and win-win situation.

According to statistics, currently Changzhou has nearly 200 automobile or auto parts enterprises above designated size. In 2016, these companies achieved total output value of 87.3 billion yuan, an increase of 31% over 2015.
