In the first three quarters of 2021, Changzhou achieved steady growth in per capita disposable income and consumer spending, according to the Changzhou Investigation Team of the National Bureau of Statistics.

From January to September, Changzhou’s per capita disposable income reached 42,911.2 yuan, up 10.5 percent year on year. Meanwhile, the city’s per capita consumer spending in the first three quarters hit 28,420.9 yuan, surging 22 percent from a year earlier.

Income from salaries increased by 9.6 percent to 26,264.9 yuan per capita, accounting for 61.2 percent of disposable earnings. This indicates wage income plays the role as an anchor of the steady growth in people’s earnings.

Net income from transfers was 6,598 yuan per capita, up 12.1 percent in nominal terms year on year. In urban areas, the minimum monthly unemployment insurance benefit raised from 1,350 yuan to 1,410 yuan starting from July 2021. After adjustment, the monthly payment standard of the basic pension has increased by 4.96 percent.
