From August 22 to 23, Choi Youngsam, Consul General of South Korea in Shanghai, visited Changzhou. On the morning of August 22, Mayor Ding Chun met with Mr. Choi and his delegation at the Municipal Administration Center.

Ding Chun said that Changzhou has maintained good economic and trade relations with South Korean cities in recent years, achieving significant results in import and export businesses. Changzhou is committed to creating the best business environment and vigorously supports South Korean companies� development in Changzhou.

This is the first time that Choi Youngsam has visited Changzhou since he took office in November last year. He hoped that the two sides will further deepen economic and trade cooperation within the context of regional integration of Yangtze River Delta. The Consulate General of South Korea in Shanghai will fully support Changzhou’s cooperation with South Korean cities in the fields of economy, trade, culture and education.

By the end of 2018, Changzhou had approved or filed the application of 271 South Korean-owned enterprises, with the total registered foreign investment exceeding 1.5 billion US dollars. A number of well-known South Korean companies such as Hyundai Heavy Industries and SK Group have settled in Changzhou. Local enterprises such as Tanyuan Technology and Lingtong Exhibition System have invested in eight projects in South Korea, with a total investment of more than 24 million dollars. In 2018, the total value of Changzhou’s trade with South Korea was 1.95 billion dollars, a year-on-year increase of 7.8%. At present, Changzhou has established friendship-city relationships with Namyangju and Chuncheon in South Korea.
