At the Purple Mountain Cross-strait Entrepreneurs Summit 2015 held in Nanjing between November 3rdand 4th, Canal 5 Creative Campus of Changzhou was awarded the title of Demonstration Base of Cross-strait Experimental Cooperation in Cultural and Creative Industries. Party Secretary Yan Li and Deputy Mayor Fang Guoqiang attended the summit. Canal 5 Creative Campus was established in 2009 by Changzhou Industrial Investment Group (known as TID) on the basis of the former site of Changzhou No.5 Woolen Mill. Themed with canal culture, industrial remains and creative industry, Canal 5 is aimed at building a special platform for the development of cultural and creative industries with the concept of protection, utilization and regeneration. Next, it will begin to seek win-win exchanges and cooperation among cross-strait cultural and creative industries. At present, Canal 5 has gathered more than 200 creative teams and over 3,000 young artists, implemented more than 60 projects in creative industries, and brought together and incubated nearly 70 brand businesses and activities. It has become a cluster of art and recreation in forms of book clubs, coffee bars music bars and restaurants, constantly organizing large-scale art exhibitions, small concerts, 5MART creative market, retro riding, libraries and other live events. Each year an average of 200-odd events involving more than 500,000 persons are held here, which facilitated business transactions of hundreds of millions over these years.
