On March 1, the Shanghai Bureau of Statistics released theStatistical Communiqué of Shanghai on the 2018 National Economic and Social Development. In 2018, Shanghai's per capita GDP rose to 135,000 yuan. According to the current USD-to-CNY exchange rate, the per capita GDP exceeded 20,000 US dollars, meeting the standards of developed economies. In accordance with the 2018 economic data released by cities in China and based on the permanent population of each city at the end of 2017, there are 15 cities each with a per capita GDP of over 20,000 US dollars. They are Shenzhen, Dongying, Erdos, Wuxi, Suzhou, Zhuhai, Guangzhou, Nanjing, Changzhou, Hangzhou, Beijing, Changsha, Wuhan, Shanghai and Ningbo, with a total population of over 145 million. It is worth noting that four of the 15 cities are in Jiangsu province, namely Wuxi, Suzhou, Nanjing and Changzhou. Changzhou ranks 9th with a per capita GDP of 20,812 US dollars.
