On Aug 2, the first batch of National Key Towns for Developing Rural Tourism was announced. The list includes 100 towns in China, four of which are in Jiangsu. Xuebu Town in Jintan District, Changzhou, is one of them.

Located in the west of Jintan District, Xuebu Town is at the eastern foothill of Maoshan Mountain. Large-scale tourism programs such as the Oriental Salt Lake Resort, Jardin Admirable, Baosheng Park and First Farm have settled here in recent years. In pursuing an integrated development of agriculture and tourism, the town has become a one-stop tourist destination that includes vacationing spots, living areas, research venues and places for health and sports.

The towns on the list were jointly selected by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), as part of the effort to implement the Rural Vitalization Law. For the first time, the list covers towns instead of single villages, which will promote to develop an all-round branding system for rural tourism.

Also on the list are Guli Sub-District of Nanjing, Mashan Sub-District of Wuxi, and Maoshan Town of Zhenjiang.
