On the morning of April 13th, it was learned from the Changzhou Survey Team of National Bureau of Statistics that in the first quarter, Changzhou’s CPI (consumer prices index) grew by 1.8% year on year. The food prices fell 1.6%, while the non-food prices rose 2.5%.

According to the released information, among the 14 sectors in the food category, vegetable prices fell significantly, with a cumulative decline of 14.9% from January to March. In February, vegetable prices dropped 22.2%, reaching lowest point since March 2001.

Compared to the continued decline in vegetable prices, the market price of eggs seems to bounce back in the near future, which has already increased from 3 yuan/catty in March to 3.3 yuan/catty this month.
