The First Plenary Session of the 15th Changzhou Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) kicked off on the morning of February 22 with an opening ceremony held at the Longcheng Hall of Changzhou Municipal Administration Center. The event marked the start of this year's annual Two Sessions of the city's top political advisory and legislative bodies. The session, which will run for three and a half days, is scheduled to conclude on Friday. In the following days, local CPPCC members will discuss city affairs and make proposals. At the opening ceremony, Chen Jinhu, secretary of Changzhou Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), delivered a speech titled Embarking on a New Journey and Making Greater Achievements. Bai Yunping, chairwoman of the CPPCC Changzhou Municipal Committee, delivered a report on the work of the Standing Committee of the 14th CPPCC Changzhou Municipal Committee last year and its achievements over the past five years, as well as giving new tasks for this year. The highlights of last year's work include celebrating the centenary of the CPC, implementing the campaign on learning the Party history, and fulfilling the committee’s important role as a body dedicated to consultation in local governance. Wu Xinfa, vice chairman of the CPPCC Changzhou Municipal Committee, delivered a report on the proposals received from political advisers on behalf of the Standing Committee of the 14th CPPCC Changzhou Municipal Committee.
