On the morning of May 16, Changzhou launched another major scientific and technological innovation platform - Changzhou Science and Technology Block in Zhonglou District. Party secretary Yan Li requested Zhonglou District Government to seize the opportunities for development through technological innovation, to bring together various resources and to build the Changzhou Science and Technology Block into a demonstration area of scientific development and innovation.

Yan said in his speech that the current economic development in Changzhou is entering a critical period of transformation and upgrading, which is also the best time to speed up scientific and technological innovation. Going forward, Changzhou will follow the main route of building a national innovation-oriented city, gathering external resources and working hard at the same time, in order to promote the city's overall scientific and technological innovation.

It is learned that the Changzhou Science and Technology Block takes an area of 37,000 square kilometers, situated in the South Yulong Road. It is committed to building the city’s most influential innovation and technology center, high-end talent gathering base and technology transfer base. The Block adopts the concept of "entity management and market operation," supported by incentives such as the three funds respectively for SME technology innovation, industry investment and credit risk compensation. The Block has co-established with the Fraunhofer Association the Changzhou Office of the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing and Information Research, in order to build a special technology transfer base and an integrated training base for German Industry 4.0.
