From November 1st, Changzhou will launch the 1% population sampling survey along with the national survey. Since October 16th, Changzhou has entered the stage of ‘door-to-door survey. In the morning, two investigators entered the home of one resident in Zhaofeng Garden. The investigators of this time’s sampling survey are mostly community staff. Citizen Aunt Liu was a census taker over a decade ago. She feels that today’s census has some new changes. ‘At the first national census, there were few computers, and the survey had to be done by entering into each residence, said Liu, ‘but now we use computers, which makes the census faster, better and more accurate. At present, we have a census in our country every ten years. Between two censuses, there will be a population sampling survey on the fifth year. This year’s sampling survey will provide a more accurate data reference to the 13th Five Year Plan of places all over China. Changzhou’s survey will cover over 20,000 households and over 50,000 citizens. The on-site registration will last from November 1stto 15th. The investigators will make door interviews and fill the questionnaires in their PDAs on site.
