This year, Changzhou��s summer grain harvested 957,500 mu (about 63,833 hectares), including 923,400 mu (about 61,560 hectares) of wheat, decreased respectively 32,100 mu (about 2,140 hectares) and 29,600 mu (about 1,973 hectares) over last year. However, the yield and the total production of summer grain both increased, of which the wheat yield per mu made 343.53 kg, an increase of 18.4 kg, and the summer grain total output achieved 323,000 tons, an increase of 7,500 tons. The person in charge of the Municipal Agricultural Technology Promotion Center said the increase came from years of effective promotion of high-quality wheat and oil seeds as well as efficient ways of grain production. At the same time, Changzhou has also actively implemented incentive agricultural packages to benefit and encourage farmers.
