December 2ndmarks the third National Traffic Safety Day. The Municipal Public Security Bureau, Bureau of Transport, and other relevant authorities held the launching ceremony of the activity called Keep Traffic Safety in Mind at Changzhou Bus Station, urging the public to follow the traffic rules strictly.

Up to now, Changzhou has 1,047,000 motor vehicles, an increase of 91% compared with 2010, and the numbers are growing at an average rate of 10 percent per year. With the rapid growth of motor vehicles and drivers, traffic accidents have become a big threat to people's lives.

According to the statistics in recent years, speeding, overloading, drunk driving, drug driving, running red lights, driving in the emergency lane, and pedestrian crossing offenses account for nearly a quarter of all traffic violations, while speeding is ranked the first among the ‘road killers. Such traffic violations are leading causes of road accidents, and are serious threats to traffic safety.

The theme of the activity is to require the public to obey all traffic rules so as to ensure safe and orderly flow of traffic.
