On January 29th, Changzhou Municipal People’s Government held a press conference about Changzhou’s economy growth in 2015. The economic and social development of the city was generally stable in 2015. The annual GDP of Changzhou reached 527.32 billion yuan, calculated at comparable prices, an increase of 9.2% over the previous year. The city’s ten major industrial chains made a greater contribution to GDP growth. In 2015, Changzhou's industrial enterprises above designated size achieved output value of 1.14543 trillion yuan, an increase of 5.3% over the previous year. Chemical and machinery industries reached output growth of 14.9% and 9.3% respectively, outpacing the other major industries. The industrial enterprises above designated size involved in the ten major industrial chains of Changzhou achieved output value of 381.68 billion yuan, an increase of 8.9%, accounting for 33.3% of the city's total output value of enterprises above designated size, creating value increment of 52.6%. Among them, the top three industrial chains in growth rate are: carbon material (up 36.9%), solar photovoltaic (up 25.6%), and motor vehicles and parts (up 15.8%). In 2015, the Changzhou’s tertiary industry for the first time surpassed the secondary industry in the proportion of GDP. During the year of 2015, the growth rate of the city's tertiary industry was 1.3 percentage points higher than the GDP growth. The added value of the tertiary industry accounted for 49.5%, 1.5 percentage points over the previous year, which for the first time surpassed the secondary industry. The economic structure has thus realized the transformation from “secondary-tertiary-primary to the new pattern of “tertiary-secondary-primary. Tourism market maintained a rapid growth. In 2015, the total annual domestic tourism revenue was 71.84 billion yuan, up 12.2% on a year-on-year basis. The total number of tourists reached 54,430,000, an increased of 9.1%. In addition, emerging businesses such as express delivery achieved leaping development. The express delivery companies above designated size reached main business income of 1.74 billion yuan, up 40%, an increase of 17.8 percentage points over the previous year. Major investment projects achieved a breakthrough. In 2015, Changzhou accomplished total exports of 131.92 billion yuan, an increase of 0.5%. Among the main export commodities, high-tech exports made a rapid growth at the rate of 9.7%; while mechanical and electrical products accounted for 54.1% of the city's exports, an increase of 1.6 percentage points. 2.49 billion US dollars of registered foreign capital were materialized, and 16 projects each with over 30 million US dollars of registered foreign capital were newly added.
