On the morning of December 4^th, Shao Ming, Deputy Director of the Municipal People’s Congress, and Zhang Yunyun, Deputy Mayor of Changzhou, met with a four-member delegation headed by Mr. Crescenzio Rivellini, former president of the European Parliament's Delegation for relations with the People's Republic of China, in the Administration Centre of Changzhou.

The delegation was invited to participate in the conference on medical cooperation between China and Italy held by Changzhou Seventh People’s Hospital for technology cooperation, equipment import and other specific issues. In addition, the delegation proposed to meet with the deputy mayor of Changzhou in charge of the health sector, as well as the leaders of the Municipal Health Bureau, in order to discuss about the possibility of carrying out exchanges and cooperation in the field of medical and health services.

Zhang introduced the current status of Changzhou’s economic and social development to the delegates, especially the achievements in medical and health services as well as senior care industry. Rivellini highly evaluated Changzhou’s health services, and expressed his will of constantly promoting exchanges and cooperation between the hospitals in Changzhou and relevant health institutions in Italy and even around Europe.

It is learned that Prof. Piccione, a member of this delegation, just visited Changzhou with a group of medical specialists last month, and had academic exchanges with the Nephrology Department of Changzhou Seventh People’s Hospital. The department’s subordinate division, Blood Purification Center, completes more than 100,000 times of hemodialysis every year, taking a lead in Changzhou in terms of technological level and quality of service.
