Due to the impact of Typhoon In-Fa and Covid-19 dynamics, in July, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of Changzhou, edged up 0.5% compared with last month and rose by 1.4% year-on-year, as data from the Changzhou Survey Organization of the National Bureau of Statistics shows. On a year-on-year basis, the price of clothing, transport and communication, and healthcare climbed 2.2%, 7.1% and 5.9% respectively. Food prices fell by 2%, among which the price of pork dropped 42.6%, vegetables decreased 3.4%, chicken down by 8.5%, while freshwater fish, fruits and eggs rose 32.1%, 11.1%, and 21.5% respectively. From a month-on-month perspective, prices of five categories of commodities went up sightly. They were alcohol and tobacco; daily necessities and services; transport and communication; education, culture and entertainment; and healthcare. The clothing price edged down 0.3%, and prices of other supplies and services fell by 0.1%. Food prices edged up 0.9%. The price of shrimps and crabs increased 13.3%, vegetables up 4.3%, fruits up 2.3%, and eggs up 2.7%. Due to the abundant pork supply, the price of pork was down by 6.2%.
