On the morning of January 12, the Changzhou base of China Eastern Airlines Jiangsu Limited was officially launched, marking a new stage of cooperation between Changzhou and China Eastern Airlines. Mayor Ding Chun, Vice Mayor Li Lin and Secretary-General Yong Hang, together with Hou Jianjun, General Manager of China Eastern Airlines Jiangsu Limited, attended the launching ceremony. The Changzhou base of China Eastern Airlines is located in the west of the Airport Industrial Park, with an area of 28 mu (about 1.87 hectares). After two years of construction, the first-phase project covering over 7,000 square meters has been completed and put into use, including staff cafeteria, overnight accommodation for crew-members and staff, flight preparation and aircrew offices. At present, Changzhou Airport accommodates five Airbus 320 aircrafts of China Eastern Airlines overnight, opening 18 domestic and international air routes from Changzhou to Beijing, Chengdu, Bangkok etc. In 2017, the passenger throughput of Changzhou Airport reached 2.5105 million person-times, of which the flights of China Eastern Airlines accounted for nearly 40%.
