Jiangsu Tea Industry Seminar held in Liyang

The Jiangsu Tea Industry Seminar, jointly hosted by Jiangsu Tea Association, The Tea Institute of Jiangsu, Jiangsu Agro-Tech Extension and Service Center and Liyang People’s Government, was recently held in Liyang, Changzhou. Tea experts and industry elites from all over the country gathered together to conduct in-depth discussions on topics such as the innovation and development of Jiangsu’s tea industry, brand enhancement and tea - tourism integration.

Vice mayor Xu Zheng attended the event.

At present, there are 34,000 hectares of tea farms in Jiangsu province, of which Liyang’s tea farms account for 4,800 hectares. In recent years, the Tianmu Lake white tea, known to be one of the most delicate tea varieties, has developed rapidly in the tea industry, with annual output value exceeding 1.5 billion yuan.

At the seminar, Liu Jian, former vice minister of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Dr. Chen Zongmao, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Yang Tianshui, deputy director of the Agricultural Office of CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, Jiang Yongwen, director of China Tea Science Society (CTSS), and Cai Jun, secretary-general of China Chamber of Commerce of Import & Export of Foodstuffs, Native Produce & Animal By-Products (CFNA), shared their views on how to develop Jiangsu’s tea industry in a sustainable way.

An award ceremony was also held for the Top 10 Ecological Tea Farms and Top 10 Tea-Themed Touring Routes in Jiangsu selected during the first International Tea Day event.
