On Feb 26, Mayor Ding Chun headed the Changzhou economic and trade delegation to Shanghai to carry out a series of exchange and matchmaking activities, unveiling the 2018 Changzhou-Shanghai Economic Cooperation Week. In the morning, Ding Chun and his entourage visited the Shanghai Data Exchange Center, which was officially opened in Jing’an district on Apr 1, 2016. All data traded at the center are safeguarded to ensure the protection of privacy. Functioning as the country’s first and only online data exchange marketplace, Shanghai Data Exchange Center enables auction-based data buying, cross-institutional cooperation and integrated application of business data & government data. It is located in Shibei High-Tech Park, where over 150 big data and cloud computing firms are sited. In the meeting with directors of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology and Shanghai Data Exchange Center, Ding stated that big data is an important tool for urban governance, while Shanghai has made meaningful explorations and attempts in data collection and application. Changzhou is making every effort to promote the construction of a "smart city," using the Internet and big data to improve urban governance and enhance people's happiness. Changzhou will further promote the "smart city" program through the cooperation with Shanghai Data Exchange Center.
