On May 5, it was learned from the city's Flood Control and Drought Relief Meeting that Changzhou will enter the monsoon (rainy) season in mid-late June and may be affected by two typhoons. According to meteorological office, Changzhou recently will not have any heavy rain, so the overall water level of rivers and lakes is expected to remain stable. However, due to large amounts of rainfall the city experienced early this year, the pre-flood water level of rivers and lakes is generally higher than the same period in previous years. Once a heavy rain occurs, the water level is likely to rise rapidly. The meteorological office forecasts that this year the monsoon season in Changzhou will end in mid-July. Strong thunderstorm, short heavy rain and some other severe convective weather may occur frequently. In recent years, Changzhou has enhanced flood control projects and further improved the capacity for flood prevention and control.
