On May 4, it was learned from Jintan District Bureau of Agriculture and Forestry that Jintan Rice Technology Demonstration Center was selected into the first batch of 24 Jiangsu modern agricultural comprehensive demonstration bases (2016-2018) recently announced by Jiangsu Provincial Agriculture Commission. Jintan Rice Technology Demonstration Center was founded in 2010, covering an area of 202 mu (about 13.47 hectares). It was jointly constructed by the departments of Jiangsu Provincial Agriculture and Forestry Bureau, aiming to build a leading rice and wheat demonstration base in southern Jiangsu. The center has established close cooperative relationships with the Nanjing Agricultural College, the Department of Agriculture of Yangzhou University, and Jiangsu Provincial Academy of Agricultural Sciences, featuring seven major functional areas of rice seedlings, species identification, new varieties exhibition, new technology demonstration, and so on. It has carried out nearly 100 testing and demonstration programs, and organized more than 220 training classes and field visits, involving 5,000 people. In 2015 it was rated as a demonstration base of the “national agricultural extension services pilot" project - Sunan rice industry demonstration base by Nanjing Agricultural University (NAU). The perception and wisdom farmland management system co-developed by the center and NAU is a trinity monitoring network which provides real-time information on crop growth, atmosphere and soil. This partnership also first launched the "NAU Farming" app in the province to promote the new technology extension service model of Internet + technology + farmers = application.
