On the afternoon of September 28, Mayor Ding Chun met with Olivier Zehnder, Consul General of Switzerland in Shanghai, who came to attend the 2018 China Changzhou International Forum on Science and Technology & Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation. Ding said that Changzhou is currently working hard to shape a high-quality industrial star city. He hopes to further promote multi-disciplinary and all-round exchanges and cooperation between Changzhou and Switzerland through economic and trade cooperation. Changzhou will provide more thoughtful and efficient services for Swiss enterprises through projects such as Sino-Swiss Industrial Park (Changzhou). Zehnder said that through a few days of on-the-spot visits, he learned that there are many Swiss companies investing in Changzhou, which is a full affirmation of Changzhou's good business environment. He looked forward to further strengthening cooperation between the two sides and exploring the possibility of establishing a sister city relationship. In recent years, the economic and trade cooperation between Changzhou and Switzerland has become increasingly close. By the end of 2017, 28 well-known Swiss companies have invested in Changzhou, mainly in the machinery and chemical industries. From January to August this year, the total import and export volume between Changzhou and Switzerland reached US$190 million, a year-on-year increase of 34.7%. Vice Mayor Fang Guoqiang was present at the meeting.
