An all-cargo flight landed in the Changzhou Benniu International Airport on the afternoon of March 15, marking the launch of the airport's first air cargo route since it commenced operation. Chen Jinhu, deputy secretary of the CPC Changzhou Municipal Committee and mayor of Changzhou Municipal People’s Government, and Feng Jun, president of Eastern Airports Co., Ltd., attended the inauguration ceremony. The flight is a program operated jointly by Changzhou Airport and Changzhou Free Trade Zone. It departed from Manila, capital of the Philippines, for Changzhou with a consignment of aquatic products like eels and northern snakeheads. Currently, the Changzhou-Manila service will operate three flights per week. Going forward, the route will run five times per week (Monday through Friday). As Changzhou is continuously enhancing its role as a hub of the Yangtze River Delta, the cargo throughput of Changzhou Airport is expecting a 3,500-ton increase in 2021.
