36.4% companies in emerging industry show interest in further investment

The Changzhou Investigation Team of National Bureau of Statistics recently released the result of a survey on the city's 94 manufacturing enterprises, of which 33 companies belong to the ‘national strategic emerging industries.â€

These 33 companies are involved in eight categories, i.e., new materials, photovoltaic, high-end equipment manufacturing, new medicine, new information technology, new energy vehicles, energy-saving and environmental-friendly industry, and new energy. In 2013, these enterprises achieved operating income of 116.28 billion yuan.

Among them, 12 companies clearly expressed the intension of increasing investment in 2014, while 14 companies decided to maintain the status quo.

Currently, the city's traditional industries are accelerating the pace of transformation and upgrading, developing emerging industries and advanced manufacturing, and constantly promoting the restructuring of industrial chains. When asked ‘What’s your expectation on the revenue in 2014 compared with last year,†48.5% of the 33 companies selected ‘a little profit,†18.2% answered ‘significant growth,†30.3% checked ‘breakeven†and 3 % concerned ‘loss.â€

When asked ‘What’s your opinion on the business trends for 2014,†30.3 % expressed ‘optimistic†and 57.5% expected ‘a stable progress.â€
