Changzhou hosts Autumn Reception for Consulates General in Shanghai

On the evening of August 26, Changzhou Municipal People’s Government hosted the Autumn Reception for Consulates General in Shanghai. Representatives from more than ten consulates general attended the reception.

Mayor Sheng Lei attended the event and delivered a speech on behalf of the Municipal Government.

Sheng Lei expressed gratitude to the participating consulates general for their long-standing support for Changzhou’s economic and social development.

She described Changzhou as a time-honored city with cultural significance, an inclusive city embracing opening-up, and a beautiful city to live in.

Today’s Changzhou is thriving with ten major industrial clusters including equipment manufacturing, new energy, new materials, and eight high-growth industrial chains including Industrial Internet and artificial intelligence, said Sheng.

She pointed out that in the first half of 2022, the city has shown itself overcoming the impact of Covid-19, with Changzhou’s main economic indicators and economic growth among the highest in Jiangsu, demonstrating strong industrial resilience.

At present, with our positioning as an international star city of intelligent manufacturing and a pivotal hub in the Yangtze River Delta, we have implemented the "532" development strategy, with an unremitting effort toward the trillion-yuan GDP goal, said Sheng.

She stated that at a high starting point with even higher aims, Changzhou looks forward to enhancing mutual trust and cooperation with all the consulates general in Shanghai for win-win development.

Promoting win-win cooperation, Changzhou has attracted over 3,800 foreign-invested companies, with sixty-eight Fortune Global 500 companies having invested in 121 programs. Changzhou currently has sister-city relationships with 54 cities in 27 countries. To facilitate international cooperation, several national and provincial-level industrial parks have been established jointly with our partners which include Israel, Germany, Switzerland, and Japan.

Huan Heng, vice mayor of Changzhou, moderated the event. Zhou Chengtao, secretary-general of the Municipal Government, attended the event.
