Recently, Liyang鈥檚 鈥楾ianmuhu Baicha鈥 was awarded the title of national 鈥榤odel of geographical indications for agricultural products鈥 by the Ministry of Agriculture, which is the only selected product of Jiangsu Province.

Baicha or white tea is a comparatively rare kind of green tea, which is not as widely planted as other teas and has a short harvesting period. The long, narrow leaves are yellow in color and have a recognizable fold along the length of the leaf.

Currently, Liyang has 20,000 mu (about 133-odd hectares) of Tianmuhu Baicha, with the annual output value of over 300 million yuan. In recent years, Liyang has been enhancing the product's standard system, regulatory system, traceability system and technical service system. By doing so, the quality of Tianmuhu Baicha has been significantly improved, achieving both profits and social benefits.
