In the first half of 2022, Changzhou’s GDP (gross regional product) reached 426.46 billion yuan according to the preliminary accounting results, a year-on-year increase of 2.2 percent at constant prices, 0.6 percentage points higher than the provincial average. The growth rate ranked first in southern Jiangsu province. In macroeconomics, the city’s industries are divided into three major economic categories by the resource that the industry creates or provides. In the primary sector, raw materials are extracted or gathered. The secondary, or manufacturing sector, creates finished goods, while the third or tertiary sector provides services. From January to June, the primary sector added 5.49 billion yuan of value to Changzhou’s GDP, with a year-on-year increase of 4.7 percent. The manufacturing sector added 215.60 billion yuan of value, up 3.2 percent, while the tertiary sector added 205.37 billion yuan, an increase of 1.1 percent.
