YRD Research Center of the CAS Institute of Physics opens new facility in Liyang

On the morning of April 9, the Yangtze River Delta Research Center of the Institute of Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences officially opened its new facility in Liyang, Changzhou.

The center was jointly established by the Institute of Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the People's Government of Liyang, Changzhou in August 2018. Its R&D team in Liyang is composed of five academicians and 11 researchers of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). The team has so far incubated a number of innovative start-ups including Puyang Tianmu Pioneer Battery Material Technology Co., Ltd., HiNa Battery Technology Co., Ltd., Jiangsu Weilan Medical Technology, Co., Ltd., and Tianmu Lake Institute of Advanced Energy Storage Technologies.

The center’s new facility sat in the western suburbs of Liyang. Covering a gross floor area of 60,000 square meters, there is a sci-tech innovation complex containing an R&D center, an international conference center, a physical science education base, and a production studio for online courses in condensed matter physics and advanced energy storage technologies.

Aiming at establishing a regional model for lithium-ion battery industry, Liyang is prepared to attract more tech talents from the University of Science and Technology of China, Huazhong Science and Technology, Beihang University and other top-class universities in the country.
