East China Amateur Badminton Tournament kicks off in Changzhou

On the morning of August 30, the opening ceremony of the 11th PICC Cup East China Amateur Badminton Tournament was held at the Changzhou Olympic Sports Center. Vice Mayor Fang Guoqiang attended the event.

Started from August 30, the tournament lasted for four days. Over 800 players of 74 teams from all over the country competed here in Changzhou. There are three groups of the tournament, namely the Changzhou Open, the Amateur Club and the Municipal Government. The champions of the group of Changzhou Open will have exclusive VIP seats at the BWF China Masters 2018, with the opportunity to meet the badminton stars in person.

At the ceremony, deputy mayor Fang Guoqiang announced the opening of the tournament.

It is reported that Changzhou has also won the bid to host the China Open of the HSBC BWF World Tour 2018-2021, a circuit of 26 tournaments towards the finals. HSBC BWF World Tour replaces the BWF Super Series and BWF Grand Prix, which was held from 2007 to 2017. The highest points and prize pool is offered at the Super 1000 level. The China Open will be held at the Olympic Sports Center in Changzhou from the September 18 to 23.
