On January 12, it was learned from relevant department that Gehu Lake Museum (a temporary name), the first folk museum in Wujin, Changzhou, had been under construction. The museum, with features of southern Chinese riverside town, will open to the public four months later. In order to support the development of the folk museum, Wujin Museum lent 199 pieces of folk arts specially. Located on the second floor of Staff Activity Center in Juxin Village, Xihu Street, Gehu Museum covers an area of 1,300 square meters. The museum is invested by nongovernmental capital, while the space is offered by local government. The museum is aimed at exhibiting the folk culture of Gehu region in Wujin from the Republican period to 1950s or 1960s. Zhang Zhenyu, a founder, has collected more than 100 pieces of folk arts related to Gehu. He introduces that the museum sets interactive culture areas of farming culture, fishing culture, folk streets, etc. Citizens can experience traditional Jiangnan folk culture by visiting grocery stores, teahouses, flower store, cloth store, drug store, specialty store, gardening store, etc. It is suggested that by now there have been 5 open folk museums that are approved by Wujin District Government.
