On August 28, the State Forestry and Grassland Administration announced the list of 50 national forest town pilots. Ban Bian Shan Xia, a characteristic town located in the Maodong Forest Farm, Jintan was the only one selected from Jiangsu province.

In July last year, the State Forestry and Grassland Administration launched the program of national forest towns to practice the important idea of“lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets.� The pilot construction period is 3 years. By then, the pilots meeting all the requirements will be recognized as national forest towns with a unified logo.

Ban Bian Shan Xia is seated in the hinterland of Maoshan Tourist Resort. It is a B&B area built on the basis of the architectural complex of the former Maodong Forest Farm’s staff resettlement zone. The area integrates culture, sports, team building activities and other elements, complementing the surrounding scenic spots such as the Oriental Saltlake Resort, Huaxia Baosheng Garden, Huagu Qiyuan and The First Farm. It can accommodate 400 people. The forest town has begun to take shape.
