On the morning of Mar 5, the first empty passenger train ran from Dingyan Station at 8:30, initiating a three-month test running for Line 2.
Emulating the real environment, test running is a period during which the technical parameters are calibrated to enhance the security and reliability of the subway system. It also prepares staff to perform their routine duties, and get to know how to deal with emergencies.
The construction started back in 2017. With the first phase passing the assessment on Mar 3, Line 2 obtained the security certificate for test running.
The official operation is expected to begin before July 1. With 15 stations in total, Phase 1 has a mileage of 19.8 kilometers. The electric trainsets are designed to have a maximum speed of 80 kph. Line 2 runs across the city from east to west, forming a cross-shaped network with Line 1. When it comes into service, the city’s overall transportation system will be improved.
