Recently, the 2015 Report on Economic Development of Counties in China was released by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Jintan and Liyang are ranked 15th and 20th respectively in the innovation index.

Annual review was carried out on 400 sample counties/county-level cities which were selected as the most competitive ones according to the indicators of GDP, financial revenue and the number of enterprises above designated size. Rankings released in the report include Top 100 Counties in Economic Competitiveness, Top 100 Counties in Economic Potential and Top 100 Counties in Innovation for Economic Development.
