On February 15, it was learned from the Division of Highway Administration that Changzhou has introduced a three-year plan of balanced rural-urban development between 2014 and 2016, of which the overall objective is to implement a new round of road projects in countryside, combined with the improvement of farmland, water conservancy, village environment, etc. Within three years, Changzhou will build or rebuild 800 kilometers of roads and 200 bridges in rural areas, especially the improvement of traffic conditions of level-3 or level-4 country roads. 1,200 kilometers of Model Rural Roads will be constructed by the end of 2015, accounting for 21.4% of level-3 or level-4 country roads. Meanwhile, relevant authorities will improve the ability to enhance the maintenance of rural roads and establish a road management network and system covering all townships (subdistricts) and villages (communities), so as to achieve an integration of road environment management and new urbanization development.
