Recently, the Provincial Department of Science and Technology published the list of 2021 Jiangsu provincial-level makerspaces. Twelve makerspaces in Changzhou, including X-SPACE Ucommune and Xingrui Scientific Innovation Space, were selected, thus bringing the city’s total number of makerspaces at or above provincial-level to 81, ranking 4th in Jiangsu. Makerspace, also known as hackerspace, is a collaborative work space inside a public or private facility, where employees can share and exchange new ideas. Building makerspace provides the premise for young talent, which in turn will inspire innovation, boost employment and foster new growth drivers. As an important step to pursue innovation-driven development, more makerspaces will be created in the future to optimize the environment for mass entrepreneurship.
