Recently, the seventh batch of national water-saving cities (for the year 2014) was announced on the official website of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. A total of eight cities are included in the list, while both Changzhou and Jintan are among them. In 2011, Changzhou and Jintan initiated the programs on establishing provincial and national water-saving cities, and both were awarded as Jiangsu Provincial Water-saving Cities in 2012. In November 2014, Changzhou and Jintan successfully passed the pre-site assessment, field examination and comprehensive review co-organized by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and the National Development and Reform Commission. As important assessment indicators, 93 companies in Changzhou are ranked as provincial water-saving enterprises, accounting for 32.1% of the city’s companies; 23 residential areas are evaluated as provincial water-saving communities; and all colleges in Changzhou are recognized as provincial water-saving colleges. Jintan has 27 provincial water-saving enterprises and 21 provincial water-saving communities.
