On the afternoon of February 25, Vice Mayor Wang Chengbin met with the delegation of Tomsk Oblast, Russia at the Administration Center. Wang welcomed the delegation and expressed gratitude towards Tomsk Oblast government for their support to Changzhou and friendly exchanges with Changzhou in economic, trade and social fields. The Tomsk delegation hoped to learn from Changzhou’s experience in the progress of Changzhou National High-tech District (CND) and to promote exchanges and cooperation with Changzhou. Tomsk Oblast is a federal subject of Russia in the southeastern West Siberian Plain.Tomsk Oblast is rich in natural resources, particularly oil, natural gas, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, peat, and underground waters. Chemical and oil industries are the most developed in the region, followed by machine construction. Science and education are also important for the regional development. The oblast is home to six state higher education institutions and 47 research institutes. Changzhou started friendly exchanges with the city of Tomsk in 2000 and was officially twinned with Tomsk in 2011.
