On December 15^th, Forbes China released the list of the best commercial cities on the Chinese mainland in 2014, and Changzhou is ranked 12^th, moving up two places. The list also ranks Changzhou first in index for vitality of its private sectors.

Since 2004, Forbes has ranked cities by evaluating indexes such as human resources, urban scale, consumption ability, passenger traffic, freight transport, operating costs, vitality of private economy, and innovation.

Forbes believes that the private sector plays an important role in the stable and rapid development of Changzhou’s economy. In addition, the list ranks Changzhou 10^thin index for innovation, which proves the capacity of Changzhou as a ‘city of innovation.�

Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Shanghai rank in the top three. Wuxi, Nanjing and Suzhou are ranked in the 4^th, 5^thand 9^thplaces respectively.
