On the early morning of November 3, Changzhou Municipal Epidemic Prevention and Control Leading Group hosted an emergency conference concerning COVID-19 outbreak in the city. Chen Jinhu, secretary of the CPC Changzhou Municipal Committee, and Sheng Lei, deputy secretary of the CPC Changzhou Municipal Committee and acting mayor of the city, implemented policies for epidemic containment. The conference pointed out that all relevant departments must work together and adopt efficient measures resolutely, including community lockdown, centralized quarantine process, travel history investigation, and medical treatment. It noted that all the approaches are to protect people’s lives and safeguard their health. The conference called for all government leaders and officials to be committed to epidemic prevention and control based on their duties and tasks. In addition to containment measures such as nucleic acid test, quarantine or home isolation, and close contact tracking, big events have been called off or delayed, and travel restrictions have been launched at Changzhou Airport and relevant sections of expressways. The conference urged the relevant departments to actively guide the public, release important information, and reply to questions regarding the epidemic, stating that supplies related to everyday living and healthcare will be guaranteed. Zhu Fengcai, deputy director of Jiangsu Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention, gave guidance at the conference. City leaders Liang Yibo, Fang Guoqiang, Xu Zheng, and Chen Zhengchun attended the conference. Representatives of the districts and development zones under Changzhou’s administration attended the conference virtually.
