Changzhou Municipal Government hosts National Day reception

On the evening of September 29, Changzhou Municipal People’s Government held a grand National Day reception to celebrate the 69th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

Ding Chun, Mayor of Changzhou Municipal people's Government, Yu Zhiping, Chairman of the Changzhou Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Bai Yunping, Executive Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of Changzhou Municipal People's Congress, and Hang Yong, Secretary-General of Changzhou Municipal People's Government, attended the event.

Representatives of the Honorary Citizens; managers of foreign-invested enterprises in Changzhou, and experts in cultural, educational and technological sectors from over 20 countries; representatives of outstanding international students; representatives of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan compatriots, overseas Chinese, and entrepreneurial overseas returnees; as well as those in charge of Changzhou’s major departments concerning foreign affairs gathered together to celebrate the 69th anniversary of the founding of PRC.

Mayor Ding Chun said in his speech that this year marks the 40th anniversary of China’s reform and opening up. Over the past 40 years, Changzhou's comprehensive strength has been continuously enhanced, the people's living standards have improved remarkably and the society has remained harmonious and stable. At present, the whole city is studying and implementing the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress. In accordance with the requirements of high-quality development, Changzhou will continue the process of reform and opening up, focus on building the “three star cities†in industry, tourism and management, and strive to win the “three key battles�nbsp;of preventing major financial risks, tackling poverty and reducing pollution.

Ding expressed his gratitude to overseas friends who have come to invest in Changzhou or have been working in the fields of culture, education, health and scientific research here. He also stated that Changzhou will continue to provide high-quality and efficient services, and the people of the city will work together to build a new Changzhou with strong economy, rich people, beautiful environment and high social civility.
