On March 24, Trina Solar signed the strategic cooperation agreement withShanghaiMicrosystem andInformation Technology Institute ofChinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).

ShanghaiMicrosystem andInformation Technology Institute ofChinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) has a history of more than 80 years. In recent years,it has made outstanding achievements inwireless sensornetworks, micro-systems, solarphotovoltaicand relatedmaterials and devices.

The bilateral strategiccooperationfocuses oncommondevelopment ofthe world's leadingthin-film silicon/crystallinesilicon heterojunctioncells.Thegoal is toincrease thecell efficiencyfrom the 17%to 21% andfurther increasethegenerating capacityof photovoltaicsystems.The research plan is led by Dr. Liu Zhengxin, the winner ofThousands of People Plan from the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee. It will integrate the strong foundation of CAS and thetechnological strength of Trina Solar toenhancethe domesticphotovoltaic industry'scapacity for independent innovation.

The production-teaching-research cooperation between CAS and Changzhou has been increasingly deepened. The subordinate institutes have set up 13 sub centers in Changzhou Science and Education Town .
