On the morning of March 20, the construction of Nanjing University - Changzhou Science & Education Tower was officially commenced in Changzhou Science & Education Town , signifying a new chapter of the city��s cooperation with Nanjing University .

The construction is divided into two phases. The first phase covers an area of 108,000 square meters, mainly for R&D and incubation of Nanjing University - Changzhou Research Institute. As the first quarter settled in Changzhou Science & Education Town , this institute has helped the university realize industrialization of a large number of scientific and technological achievements in Changzhou . In the past four years, the institute has carried out more than 80 key projects together with companies in Changzhou , producing added value of approximately RMB 3 billion for the participating companies; and has introduced 14 pioneer returnee entrepreneur teams and incubated 15 high-tech companies, making remarkable contribution to Changzhou ��s transformation of industrial structure and cultivation of new industries.

Currently, 18 famous universities have set up R&D and incubation bases in Changzhou Science & Education Town . Among them, Nanjing University , Dalian University of Technology and Beijing University of Chemical Technology have built their independent S&T towers, while Harbin Institute of Technology will start constructing its S&T building in the near future.
